Hermoupolis is the cycladic capital and the biggest city in Syros. It is a unique city which combines architectural gems, romantic walks and an active nightlife. Its regular connection to mainland throughout the year and its picturesque beauty make it and ideal winter destination as well.
The city owes its name to Hermes the ancient Greek god of merchant. As the name denotes, Hermoupolis has been a major port from the very beginning of the Greek state, while in 1856 it was reported as the biggest city in Greece after Athens.
