ANDROS

Beautiful and peaceful, Andros is the northernmost and the second largest island of the Cyclades. Those who prefer a less crowded landscape will certainly be satisfied by choosing Andros. Two hours (or even one, on a highspeed boat) from Rafina, the island offers several options to anyone fascinated by archaeological and cultural heritage, Venetian tower-houses, footpaths and “emasies”, slopes transformed to step-like shapes with the use of stone walls.

There are three main settlements: main town Hora, also referred as Andros, is full of neocalssical mansions and a cosmopolitan atmosphere; Gavrio is the main port with several connections to Rafina, daily; Batsi is a fishing village with a smaller port and lively resorts. Sandy, accessible beaches can be found mostly on the western part of the island. Those who prefer quiet ones with rough landscape should try the north eastern or south eastern part.
