Ayvalik, a port with a Nature Park  

It belongs to the region of Balikesir and it’s on the Aegean Sea. Attractions in Ayvalik
The Old City has many narrow streets that are linked to history. Find many traditional coffee shops for Turkish coffee and tea, grocery stores and local product stores. Combine tradition and art at the Seitanin Kahvesi.
See the sunset from the Devil's Feast (Şeytan Sofrası), a hill with great views to the Aegean Islands. 
The Barbaros Caddesi is a famous traditional street, with colourful houses. Don’t forget to make a stop at the Ayazma Church (Ayvalık Panagia Phaneromeni Ayazması). It’s an important Christian monument for all the Greeks that lived in Ayvalik. 
The Taxiarchis Church is today a museum built from a red volcanic rock. 

Beaches in Ayvalik
The Alibey Island is the largest of the Ayvalik Islands. You can find many organized beaches there like the Cunda Kesebir, the Sobe and the Çataltepe. If you are looking for a secluded beach, visit Halk.
The Dolap Island (Dolap Adası) is connected to mainland through a bridge. It has many beaches like the Belediye.
The Sarımsaklı is a big sandy beach with shallow waters. It is organized, with a parking space, beach bars and restaurants. It gets very crowded, especially on weekends.
The Badavut is 10 km from the port. It’s a sandy beach, ideal for children, with many cafés and restaurants.

Activities in Ayvalik
The Muhabet Sokak is a dazzling street with many bars that open after midnight. 
Visit the Ayvalik Islands Nature Park (Ayvalık Adaları Tabiat Parkı). Some of the activities you can do is hiking, cycling and camping in some areas. 

Access to Ayvalik: You can reach the port by car, plane, ferry or bus. The closest airport is Edremit Korfez and does domestic flights to Istanbul and Ankara. It’s 40 km from the port. Izmir’s airport, Izmir Adnan Menderes is 180 km away. Izmir is 164 km away. The journey Ayvalik – Izmir is 2 hours by car and 2,5 hours by bus. Istanbul is 411 km away. The journey Ayvalik – Istanbul is 5 hours by car and 7 hours by bus. Bodrum is 400 km away. The journey Ayvalik – Bodrum is 5 hours by car and 6,5 hours by bus.

Only in Ayvalik: Try the famous Ayvalik Toast. It’s the gourmet version of the toast as you know it. It is made with cheese, cold cuts, tomatoes, pickles and yogurt. This snack can be found in many Turkish cities, and while locals use a special sized bread, you can make your own with the classic toast bread.
