Nynashamn, the city that took part in the Olympic Games

The city started to grow in 1900 with the railway connection to the Swedish capital, Stockholm. 1912 was the year that Stockholm hosted the Olympic Games and Nynashamn was chosen as the best place for sailing races to take place. • Visit the Nynäshamns Ångbryggeri brewery. It was established in 1997 and has won seven national awards. It opens only during the summer period and it’s 2 km from the port.
• Relax at the hotel spa in Nynäs Havsbad. It is perhaps one of the best in Sweden, with an outdoor jacuzzi that overlooks the sea.
• Make some time for a “fika”, a special ritual of the Swedish culture. It’s an essential break that people during the day with their friends and colleagues for coffee and a snack. It’s very important as fika helps them socialize every day and they always find time for it, even for a few minutes. According to the ritual, coffee must always be accompanied by a snack, like a cinnamon bun which was originally made in Sweden in 1920.
