Trelleborg, a port full of palm trees

The city was named after the Viking fortress that was discovered in the area near the port. It’s Scandinavia’s gate to the Central Europe as it connects Sweden to Germany, Poland and Lithuania. Attractions in Trelleborg
• At the Trelleborg Maritime Museum (Trelleborgs Sjöfartsmuseum) you will get useful information about Sweden’s maritime past and the fishing industry.
• At the Trelleborg Museum (Trelleborgs Museum) you can see exhibitions from the Stone Age until the modern times.
• The Trelleborgen is the Vikings Fortress part of which was built in the 14th century. In its initial structure the Vikings Museum, a souvenir shop, a farm and a café are included.
• The Church of Saint Catherine (Sankta Katarina Kyrka) is very modern on the outside and has the shape of a ship.
• Enjoy the view from the Smygehuk utkiksplats, the observatory deck at Sweden’s most southern point.

• Visit the Albäcksskogen park. Walk by the lake, let the children enjoy the playground, have a picnic, play golf or enjoy a run.
• The Kämpinge strandbad is a sandy beach, with shallow waters and natural shadows from the pine trees. There is a big, free parking space and toilets. On windy days you can go windsurfing and kitesurfing. The beach is part of a nature reserve, the Kämpinge Strandbads Naturreservat.
• The Böste Stranden is a secluded beach with white sand. It’s a great place to take your dog for a walk or a swim or enjoy some kitesurf.
• Snorkelling in a designated underwater path in Skåre.
• Visit the city’s park, the Stadsparken i Trelleborg. It has small ponds, ducks, statues, peacocks and more than 100 different kinds of trees.

Only in Trelleborg: Valborg is an annual celebration that takes place in the Trelleborgen, at the end of the spring. On this day, people visit the Viking Fortress to listen to poetry, old music and sounds coming out of peculiar instruments.
