Valle Gran Rey, the valley of the Giant Lizard

The municipality is in the west side of the La Gomera island, in the Canary Islands. It’s on the Atlantic Ocean and has beaches with volcanic sand. Attractions in Valle Gran Rey
• The sculpture of Hautacuperche, the leader of the revolution in La Gomera, is at the La Puntilla beach.
• The chapel Ermita de los Santos Reyes, is a 30-minute walk from the centre of Valle Gran Rey and has an amazing view.
• Explore the Cascada de Arure, a route with natural scenery and a hidden waterfall.
• Enjoy the view from the Mirador Cesár Manrique. This gorge belongs to the National Park Garajonay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Beaches in Valle Gran Rey
• The La Puntilla is both sandy and rocky and ideal for scuba diving.
• Playa Valle Gran Rey is one of the most known on the island. This beach is easy to approach, it has black sand and offers a stunning sunset.
• Playa del Ingles has visitors all day long as many prefer this beach for stargazing. It’s also a nudist beach.
• The Charco de la Condesa is a natural pool, one of the most swimming spots in La Gomera.

San Sebastian de la Gomera is 50 km from the port. Valle Gran Rey to San Sebastian de la Gomera is 70 minutes by car and 2,5 hours by bus.
Vallehermoso is 28 km from the port. Valle Gran Rey to Vallehermoso is 45 minutes by car and 2,5 hours by bus.

Only in Valle Gran Rey: Unlike other areas, Valle Gran Rey has its biggest celebration during winter. On the 6th of January, the locals celebrate the Ramo, a day when they offer fruits and vegetables to their saint patron, Nuestra Señora de Los Santos Reyes.
