For around 80 years, NLG - Navigazione Libera Del Golfo has been connecting the Gulf of Naples with the wonderful island of Capri, the Sorrento Peninsula and the Amalfi Coast, as well as the Adriatic with the Tremiti Islands.
The history of the Company began in 1953 with the motor ships "Italia" and "Linda" and then with "Santa Teresa", "Santa Lucia Luntana", "Santa Maria del Mare", "Santa Rita", "Pola" and later, with M/Ns “Patrizia” and “Mergellina”.
In 1981, "NLG - Navigazione Libera del Golfo S.r.l." was established and a profound transformation of the Company and its fleet, took place. Modern hydrojet boats were successively purchased, which gradually replaced the old motor boats: "Capri Jet" in 1988, "Sorrento Jet" in 1990, "Napoli Jet" in 1991, "Amalfi Jet" in 1993 and "Ischia Jet" in 1995. In 1999, "Super Jet", a modern and fast HSC vessel capable of carrying 580 passengers, was added to them.
Although the Company's leadership in the industry was now assured, the fleet upgrading continued: in 2003 the "Vesuvio Jet" and "Tremiti Jet" were purchased, whivh are very fast HSC vessels, electronically stabilized and capable of carrying 440 passengers at a speed of 35 knots, even in the most difficult weather conditions.
In 2006, the "Salerno Jet" was acquired, with similar characteristics, to further strengthen the services provided by the Company in the Gulf of Salerno, while in 2007, the purchase of the "Picasso" allowed the expansion of activities to the Tremiti Islands, including thus, the ports: Rodi Garganico and Capojale. Finally, in the same year, the fleet was enriched with two modern catamarans, also with very advanced technology and a high level of comfort: the “Zenit”, intended for the new Vieste-Isole Tremiti line, and the “Ponza Jet”, intended for the line Terracina-Ponza and Terracina-Ventotene. The Company's last acquisition was the “Jumbo Jet” (2021).
Currently, Navigazione Libera Del Golfo's fleet includes 11 fast monohulls and 1 catamaran. To these, 3 "historic" motor ships, "Santa Lucia Luntana", "Patrizia" and "Ala" are added, which also symbolize and bear witness to the old maritime tradition of the Company, managed by the Aponte family, originating from Sorrento; and its maritime tradition dates back to the 17th - 18th century.
In short, a combination of tradition and modernity, together with commitment, resources and professionalism, places the Company at the forefront, especially in terms of safety, comfort and reliability of the services it provides.
