Vathy is the old port and the capital of Ithaca. Visit the Archaeological Museum, the Naval Folklore Museum, admire the bust of Homer, Odysseus’s statue and the monument to the Unknown Sailor. Lazareto is a small island in the bay of Vathy where you will find the 1668 Chapel of Sotiras covered in pine trees.

Swimming in the unspoiled beaches with crystal blue waters. You can reach the beautiful beach of Gidaki by boat or walking through the path that begins from the beach of Skinos. Sarakiniko has a wonderful sea cave, while Filiatro, Platia Ammos and Aspros Yialos will stay with you long after you leave the island. The most appealing routes are the one that leads at Rizes Cave and the route from Kalamos to Exagogi.
