Lefkada, enjoy the exotic Ionian scenery

This beautiful green island is connected to the Greek mainland through the floating bridge of Akarnania. It is a heaven made of crispy waters and a very interesting cultural heritage, and whoever visits it falls in love instantly. Best attractions
• Agia Mavra Castle,was built in 1300 and can be seen at the entrance of the city of Lefkada.
• The Archaeological Museum of Lefkada is housed at the old town hall.
• The Ancient City of Nirikos is close to the Kalogoni village. Here you can see the remains of the ancient capital of Lefkada.
• At the Folklore Museum of Lefkadian Embroidery, also known as Maria Koutsohero Museum, you can admire embroidery exhibits made with the unique technique called Karsaniki stitch. It can be found at Karia village.
• In the same village there is the Gramophone, Radio Phonograph and Music Museum.

Clear blue waters in Lefkada island

Best beaches
• Egremni is a photogenic beach with emerald waters and a long sandy coastline. Since the 2015 earthquake, you can only access it by boat.
• Kathisma, a word that can be translated as “seat”, is popular and organised with beach bars, sunbeds, golden sand and a spectacular sunset. Avoid swimming here on windy days, as it can be dangerous.
• Porto Katsiki astairway to heaven is the first thing that comes in mind when you reach the ladder, one of the most impressive Mediterranean beaches. You won’t find sunbeds here, just some cafés and restaurants.
• Kastro is close to the city of Lefkada, less known to the tourists and more popular amongst the locals. It isn’t organized and has crystal clean waters.
• Pefkoulia is secluded, ideal for those who seek privacy.

• Kite surf and windsurf at Agios Ioannis, which is close to the town of Lefkada.
• Windsurf, sup, snorkelling and sailing in Vasiliki. This seaside village is a meeting point for water sports fans from all over the world.
• Banana, flyfish and other water sports in Nidri.
• Hiking and swimming at the magnificent waterfall in Nidri.
• Sea bike and canoe in Desimi, a beach with many caves to explore.
• Rent a boat to explore Prigkiponisia, an idyllic island complex near Nidri. It consists of Meganisi, Sparti, Heloni, Madouri, Skorpios, Skorpidi and Tsokari.

Tip: You can reach Lefkada by boat, car or KTEL bus. The distance from Athens is 350 km and a 4-hour drive while from Thessaloniki is 385, also a 4-hour drive.
