Nador, a port next to the biggest salt lake of Morocco

It’s part of the Rig region, on the northeastern coast of Morocco and right across Spain. Next to the port and in front of the city is the Mar Chica salt lake. The port is located at the Beni Ansar area, at the borders with the autonomous Spanish city of Melilla. Nador has been untouched by massive tourism and it’s one of the most traditional cities of Morocco.

Attractions in Nador
• The Cité D'Atalayoun is a settlement at the Atalayoun peninsula. The area has a golf club, private villas, a marina, cafes, restaurants and lakes.
• Enjoy the view to the Mediterranean Sea at the top of the cape Cap de l'Eau-les-Rochers.
• Visit the Souk Oulad Mimoun, the colourful market at the city centre. Buy pottery, spices and fabrics!

• The Plage de Boqueronesa is in front of the lake. It’s sandy and full of seashells.
• The Playa Los Piratos is a sandy beach with shallow waters, close to the port.
• The Plage Kariat Arkmane is ideal for families. It’s sandy and in some parts you will find umbrellas and sunbeds. At the beach you will find a lifeguard and there is a café nearby.
• The Red Beach has taken its name from the red rocks that surround it. It is unorganized but there are some cafés and restaurants nearby.
• There is a long sandy coastline with 3 beaches next to one another: The Plage Ras El-ma, the Plage Club Asasoon and the Belkhir Playa.

Explore the Natural Reserve Réserve naturelle de l' Embouchure Moulouya. At the mouth of the river Moulouya you can see migratory birds, walk or ride a horse at the natural trails.
• Visit Melilla, which might be a few kilometres away but it’s part of Spain! See the famous four-part fortress complex Melilla la Vieja.

Access to Nador: You can reach the port by car, plane, train, ferry or bus. Nador has an airport, 40 km from the port which connects to many European cities. Tangier’s airport is 421 km away.
Fez is 328 km away. Nador to Fez is 4 hours by car or 6 hours by train.
