Attractions in Savona
• The Savona Civic Art Gallery (Pinacoteca Civica di Savona) is housed at the Palazzo Gavotti which was built in the 16th century. Many paintings from the Renaissance era can be seen here.
• The Sistine Chapel (Cappella Sistina) was built in the 15th century, by order of Pope Sixtus IV. Its original purpose was to host the mausoleum of the Pope’s mother and father.
• The Priamar Fortress (Fortezza del Priamar) is the city’s main symbol. The Genovese built it in 1542 and today is a venue for cultural and social events.
• Towers are among the most famous landmarks in Savona like the Torre del Brandale and the Torre Leon Pancaldo.
