Attractions in Izmir (Smyrni)
• The Ancient Greek Roman Agora of Izmir (T.C Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı Smyrna Agorası) was built in the 4th century B.C. Today there are some remains and an open-air museum.
• The Konak Square (Konak Meydanı) and the Clock Tower (İzmir Saat Kulesi) is the city’s landmark and meeting point for locals and visitors.
• The Kemeraltı Bazaar (Kemeraltı Çarşısı) is the biggest in Izmir and the second biggest in the country. Make sure you bargain before you buy anything here. At the bazaar you will find traditional pottery, clothes, accessories and jewelry.
• The Archaeological Museum (İzmir Arkeoloji Müzesi) hosts objects, statues and signs from Izmir and the surrounding areas.
• The Ataturk Museum (Atatürk Müzesi) was the house where Kemal Ataturk stayed from 1930 to 1934.

Activities in Izmir (Smyrni)
• One of the most local things to do is to drink Turkish tea or coffee in a covered market, like the Kizlaragasi.
Walk at the 5 km long seafront pier. Try boiling mussels which the fishermen have just taken off the water.
Make a day trip to Alacati and Cesme, two of the most popular summer resorts in Turkey. They both have pristine beaches with emerald waters, ideal for a summer visit. They are about an hour from the port.

Access to Izmir (Smyrni): You can reach the port by bus, dolmus, train, metro and sea bus. Dolmus are small buses which run 24 hours a day and you can find it in central spots of the city. They can take up to 15 passengers and you should agree on the route and the price before you travel.
Istanbul is 480 km from the port. Izmir to Istanbul is 5 hours by car and 6 hours by bus.
Cesme is 88 km from the port. Izmir to Cesme is an hour by car.
Aydin is 112 km from the port. Izmir to Aydin is 70minuts by car and 1,5 hours by bus.
