Zakynthos, also known as Jante or Fioro di Levante (Flower of the East) is an island of the Eptanisa complex and the second most populated island in the Ionian Sea.

The capital is also named Zakynthos and there are many tourist destinations quite close such as Argasi or Laganas.

It’s extremely popular to northern Europeans, mostly because of its’ wild nightlife which has made it to the headlines of several global media. However, Zakynthos can be an excellent choice for people who are looking for less... fuss but still want to visit a gorgeous island that also boasts unique, magnificent landscapes.

Swim in the invigorating waters of the Ionian Sea in one of the wide sandy beaches in Laganas, and if you’re lucky you might even get acquainted to a Caretta-Caretta , a rare and protected species of turtles that lay their eggs there. The waters are so clean that this has been going on for decades.

Do not forget to go to “Navagio” beach and see the Shipwreck in real life. It looks much better than in the postcard you probably have already seen it in and you’ll see first-hand one of the most beautiful beaches in the whole world.

Several daily passenger routes connect Zakynthos to Kilini. There also regular connections to other Ionian islands.
