See-it-all
You’ve probably already heard about the island’s nightlife and the variety of water sports you can enjoy there, but what you may not know is that Paros is also a very artsy place. The island is the birthplace of many musicians, painters, and poets. And, it is also home to the Aegean Center for the Fine Arts since 1966. If you need more reasons to visit it, here they are:
The Marathi Marble Quarries. It is right here where one of the finest varieties of marble-semi-translucent and permeable to light was extracted. Suffice to say that Aphrodite of Milos and the Nike of Samothrace are made out of this Parian marble.
Don't miss the picturesque town of Parikia, with its whitewashed alleys and the trademark-Church of the island, Panagia Ekatontapyliani.
Panagia Ekatontapiliani
The "Kapetaneika", an athletic event of sailing races with traditional wooden boats, that usually takes place in September.
