A few words about Blue Star Ferries
Blue Star Ferries is a subsidiary company of the ATTICA Group SA HOLDINGS (Attica Group), which occupies a leading position in the provision of maritime transport services, which are intertwined with the high level of service, both in Greece and abroad. The history of the company began when Panagis Strintzis founded Strintzis Lines, a company that became omnipotent in the mid-90s and its fleet, consisting of 12 ships, was traveling in the Adriatic, Ionian and Aegean. At the end of the same decade, however, and while 5 new ships had already been ordered, 38.8% of Strintzis Lines was transferred to Attica Enterprises (later: Attica Group). The percentage reached 48.8% later, while the brand was changed, as well as the name of the company to Blue Star Ferries. In May 2002, Blue Star Ferries took over from Daewoo Heavy Industries Ltd. shipyards of Korea, the first ship of a new generation: the passenger-car ferry Blue Star Ithaki, which was launched on the Cyclades line and immediately won the preference of the passengers. In the summer of the same year, they were received by the Van der Giessen de Noord N.V. shipyards of the Netherlands, Blue Star 1 and Blue Star 2, which were launched on the Adriatic line. Blue Star Ferries continued to invest in new and modern ships and strengthen its presence in the Greek market, by launching new routes. In 2005, it was voted by Voyager magazine readers as the "Best Shipping Company in Greece" in the categories: crew / service, cabins, feeling of safety, cleanliness and voyage duration. A year later, it was recognized as one of the leading brand names of the Greek market, in the "Tourist Services" category of the Superbrands Awards.
